Nordic Study of Classification Systems for Infrastructure & Transportation (published 21.10.2019)
The report investigates the current state of classification for the built infrastructure environment, while acknowledging that present tools and systems need to recognize the rapid move towards a full digital description of assets and their functions. It examines criteria for transition and future classification systems. In addition the report looks towards fully information modeled outputs and linked information, which create a ‘Smart Infrastructure’ world.
The seven Road and Rail administrations of the Nordic countries have ordered the study about the needs of the classifications in the digitalized construction. The study was conducted by Phil Jackson from the UK and published under BuildingSMART Nordic. The seven client organisations are: Banedanmark and Vejdirektorat from Denmark, Trafikverket from Sweden, Väylä from Finland, Vegvesen, Bane NOR and Nye Veier AS from Norway.
